TDK BEAM 1 (1999 JP) Cassette Tape

TDK BEAM 1 Cassette Description

The TDK BEAM 1 (1999 Japanese-market edition) combines normal-bias recording with light-charged printing and labels. This version also includes a Title Sticker index, giving you the choice of placing the index inside the case or using it as a sticker to identify a recording.

Luminous printing and a flexible index

This edition’s Light Charge System is described through luminous printing and a label intended to make recorded titles readable in darkness. The phosphorescent material needs light exposure first, then releases the stored energy as an afterglow.

The Title Sticker index is a documented addition to this version. It provides an alternative to keeping the index loose inside the case. Together with the luminous title label, it makes identifying recordings a central part of this BEAM 1 design.

Yes. Choose Normal or Type I when recording on a deck with manual selection. Consult the recorder’s instructions for the appropriate level and calibration procedure.

Is the glow produced by a liquid?

Phosphorescent pigments are solid particles. In luminous products they are typically incorporated into plastic or bound into a dried ink or coating. The available information for this edition does not specify the exact pigment or binder.

Does sealed mean recently manufactured?

No. This cassette is factory-sealed vintage stock from the 1999 edition. Its sealed condition means it has not been opened or play-tested.
