The Sony DTC-A7 was Introduced in 1993. It is a full-size DAT recorder that features 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz recording, and a 16-bit linear converter.
It has both analog and optical / coaxial digital inputs and outputs, and an LP mode that can provide up to four hours of recording on a DT-120 tape.
The deck comes in its original box, and includes the original remote control in very good condition, a brand new set of the original Sony rack ears, and a reprint of the user manual.
The unit is in very good cosmetic condition (9/10) with only minor scratches on the top cover and on the right side of the front panel, and a tiny corner 'ding' on the back right side as seen in the photos.
VFD display is bright and clear. All buttons, switches, and potentiometers operate smoothly and reliably.
Functional condition is excellent (10/10).
It seems to be a low hours unit, based on the condition of the head drum and mechanism. It is quiet and has been thoroughly tested for many hours and found to be performing flawlessly.
All functions work, it records, plays back, and sounds amazing!
The original remote showed signs of a minor battery leak in its past. It has been thoroughly treated and cleaned, and is now 100% functional.
The box does show signs of age, so it will be double-boxed to protect it from further damage.

Service work performed:
- Mechanism disassembled, cleaned, re-lubricated, and aligned
- Switches, knobs, and potentiometers disassembled and deep-cleaned
- Power supply, main, headphones, and RF preamp boards have been recapped with high quality Nichicon and Panasonic capacitors.
Over 50 capacitors total have been replaced (see photo)!
