Long Blank Cassette Tapes - Over 120 Minutes

Long-play cassette tapes - C120 and longer - achieve their extended recording time through thinner tape stock. A C120 tape uses tape approximately 9-10 �m thick, compared to 16 �m for a C46. This thinner base film allows more tape to fit on the same hub, but it comes with trade-offs: increased susceptibility to print-through (the magnetic imprint of one winding layer onto the next during storage), greater vulnerability to stretching under high torque, and reduced binder thickness that can affect long-term durability.

For archiving, extended live recordings, radio monitoring, or any application where uninterrupted recording time matters more than absolute audio performance, long-play tapes remain the only option in the cassette format. Modern polymer improvements from the late 1980s onward largely solved the early reliability problems of extended-length tapes, and many C120 and C150 tapes from the 1990s perform reliably when stored correctly.

All long-play tapes in this collection are NOS sealed unless otherwise stated. We recommend storing long-play tapes vertically in a cool, dry environment and hand-winding from end to end before first use to normalize tension.
