Blank Digital Recording Media
Ultra Ferric carries New Old Stock blank digital recording media from the two formats that defined professional and prosumer digital audio before hard-disk recording displaced them: Digital Audio Tape (DAT) and MiniDisc (MD).
Blank DAT Tapes
Digital Audio Tape was the professional recording standard of the 1990s and early 2000s, capable of recording at 48 kHz/16-bit digital quality - matching or exceeding CD fidelity. Originally developed by Sony in 1987, DAT became the format of choice for studio masters, broadcast recording, live concert archiving, and high-end home recording. Our DAT inventory covers brands including Sony, TDK, Maxell, Denon, AXIA, KAO, and Quantegy, in lengths from 15 to 180 minutes, including both standard consumer-grade and professional studio-grade stock.
Blank MiniDiscs
MiniDisc was Sony's flagship portable digital recording format, introduced in 1992 and refined over more than a decade. Using magneto-optical recording technology, MiniDiscs delivered near-CD quality audio in a 6872mm cartridge. The format remained in active production until 2013, making NOS blank MiniDiscs increasingly scarce. Our MD inventory covers Sony, TDK, Maxell, and a range of rare and miscellaneous brands, in both Standard MD and Hi-MD formats.
